Yes, we would recommend eating only certified organic seaweed. There are several reasons for that as stated below:
- Only with organic certified seaweed you make sure that you get the best quality as determined by EU Regulations 834/2007 and Reg 710/2009.
- Certified organic moreover means that no chemicals or pesticides were used in growing, harvesting, or processing the seaweed.
- As an organic certified company, we are inspected on a regular basis by the Organic Authority we are registered with including spot checks.
- To be organic certified we are only allowed hand harvesting methods thus assuring a sustainable growth for the future of the seaweed.
- Regular lab testing is obligatory

It is very simple to add healthy seaweed to your diet as we produce 3 forms of seaweed: whole leaf, powder or flakes. All these can be easily added to your food. Just choose the form of sea vegetables that will best meet your culinary needs.
- Use our milled seaweed as a substitute for salt, simply sprinkle it on salads, soups, bread or your main courses.
- Add the seaweeds in stews or soups whole leaf.
- Make healthy crisps by sprinkling a little bit of olive oil on our Dillisk, Sea Spaghetti or Nori – place it for some minutes into the oven and enjoy a healthy alternative to potato chips!
- Use our Carragheen as vegan thickener in your sweet desserts.
- Sprinkle our flakes or whole leaf Mix of 5 seaweeds on your home-made pizza!

As the food we eat directly influences our health and wellbeing it is very important to choose our food suppliers thoroughly. We are proud to be certified organic by Organic Trust Ltd. The certification guarantees that we only harvest the best quality seaweed by hand on the west coast of Ireland within a specific certified area. Our shores are known to be among the cleanest shores. We harvest only by hand in a sustainable way. Our seaweed is dried within hours after harvesting by low temperature thus preserving the nutrients. We are also registered with the HSE (Health Service Executive of Ireland) and producing according HACCP-Regulations. Our seaweeds are fully traceable back to the harvesting area and tide.
Seaweed should be stored by room temperature in a dry place. Seaweed grows in salt water therefor the small amount of natural sea salt that stays on the surface of the seaweed during the drying process works as a natural preservative.

Sea vegetables or also called Seaweed is often associated with being a superfood as it has a high nutrient density.
- They offer one of the broadest ranges of minerals and vitamins including iodine, iron and calcium. Some countries fortify salt with iodine to go against deficiency disorders. However as we know we should not consume to much salt. Why not increase your Iodine intake by consuming sea vegetables like Kelp?
- High Calcium content between 9000 and 13000 ppm in Kombu and Sea Spaghetti is very interesting for healthy bone structure.
- Some types of seaweeds can even contain high amounts of vitamin B12. As Vitamin B12 is mainly found in animal-based products, consuming seaweed is a great way for vegetarians and vegans to add B12 to their diet.
- Moreover a wide range of antioxidants such as vitamins A, C and E, carotenoids and flavonoids can be found in different seaweeds. These antioxidants are assumed to protect your body from cell damage.
- In some cases (like iodine) you can simply not find a more concentrated mineral source.
- Kombu, Ascophyllum nodosum and Sea Spaghetti with its high Protein content (in average between 5-14 % dry matter) again is a good source for vegetarians and vegans.
